After three long years of Covid restrictions and travel bans, I am finally returning to Thailand. I couldn’t be more excited. As I walk through the bustling streets of Bangkok, I can feel the energy and excitement pulsating through the city. The sounds of traffic, street vendors, and live music fill the air. I am quickly reminded of why I fell in love with this country in the first place.
Bring On The Street Food
One of the things I’m most excited about is the food. Thai cuisine is known for its bold flavors and vibrant spices. I can’t wait to indulge in all of my favorite street food dishes. From pad Thai to green curry, tom yum soup to mango sticky rice, every meal in Thailand is an adventure for the taste buds.
In addition to the food, I’m also excited to experience the nightlife in Thailand. Bangkok is known for its lively night markets, rooftop bars, and dance clubs. I can’t wait to see what’s new since my last visit. Whether I’m sipping cocktails at a rooftop bar overlooking the city, or dancing the night away at a club with friends, the nightlife in Thailand is always unforgettable.
But perhaps what I’m most excited about is seeing how Thailand has changed since my last visit. It’s been three years since I’ve been here, and I know that a lot can happen in that time. I’m curious to see what new developments have popped up, and what changes have been made to the cityscape. I’m excited to explore some of the lesser-known neighborhoods and see what hidden gems I can discover.
Thai Smile Still In Effect
One thing that hasn’t changed, however, is the warm and welcoming nature of the Thai people. I am greeted with smiles and friendly faces, and it’s this hospitality that makes Thailand such a special place.
One of the first things I did upon arriving in Thailand was to book a Bangkok food tour. I knew that I wanted to try as many different dishes as possible, and a food tour seemed like the perfect way to do that. The tour took us to several different neighborhoods, and we tried everything from spicy fried rice to coconut curry. I even tried durian for the first time, which is a fruit that is famous for its pungent smell and divisive flavor. I have to admit, it wasn’t my favorite, but I’m glad that I tried it.
Exploring Locally Is Still Amazing
Another highlight of my trip so far has been exploring some of the lesser-known neighborhoods in Bangkok. One of my favorites was Talad Noi, which is a historic neighborhood on the banks of the Chao Phraya River. The neighborhood is known for its beautiful architecture, vibrant street art, and eclectic mix of shops and restaurants. I spent an entire day wandering around Talad Noi, and I felt like I was discovering a hidden side of Bangkok that most tourists never get to see.
Of course, no trip to Thailand would be complete without experiencing the nightlife. One of my favorite nights so far was spent at a rooftop bar called Above Eleven. The bar has stunning views of the city skyline, and the atmosphere was incredible. I sipped on delicious cocktails and enjoyed some of the best sushi I’ve ever had while taking in the glittering lights of Bangkok.
I’ve also been impressed by the safety protocols that are in place in Thailand. Masks are required in all public places, and there are temperature checks and hand sanitizing stations everywhere. I feel comfortable and safe knowing that the country is taking Covid seriously and doing everything they can to keep visitors and locals alike healthy.
No Surprise, It’s Great To Be Back
Despite the challenges of traveling during Covid, I’m so glad that I made the decision to come back to Thailand. Being here has reminded me of why I fell in love with this country in the first place. The food, the people, the nightlife, and the culture all come together to create an unforgettable experience.
As I sit in a bustling street-side restaurant, savoring a plate of spicy fried basil and rice, I can’t help but feel grateful for this moment. After three long years, I am finally back in Thailand, and I plan to make the most of every minute. Whether I’m trying new foods, exploring new neighborhoods, or simply soaking up the energy of the city, I know that this trip will be one that I will never forget.
Returning to Thailand after three years of Covid has been an incredible experience. The food, nightlife, and warm hospitality of the Thai people are just a few of the reasons why I’m so excited to be back. Despite the challenges of traveling during Covid, I’m grateful for the opportunity to explore this beautiful country once again, and I plan to make the most of every moment. Thailand truly is a special place, and I feel lucky to be here.
